Have you been to Punta Cana, DO?

I'm going with my mom. We are thinking of going in September...I hear it's hurricane season, but wonder - how impacting is that? We have heard that the Sunscape...is a great place to stay. We want to go to an all-inclusive resort and I hear they have a lot to offer. Can anyone make any suggestions/recomendations? I want to go somewhere that is absolutely clean with a wide variety of included activities within their package. I don't want to go there thinking I'm all inclusive and then end up spending another $1K just to have a good time. What are good hotels for this? Or good websites for packages? I've only looked at Apple Vacations so far (for the packages). Thanks.

  1. omgg.. im not reading that whole thing hehe, but its GREAT i went
  2. My Mother went there last September. It was hurricane season, but fortunately there were no weather problems. If anything there was too much sunshine! lol She and her travel companion got very sunburned, so stock up on lots of sunscreen. They also sell coconut oil down there, and say that it works great to protect your skin, while giving a good tan. They booked a package through Apple, and it was all inclusive. It's best to pick the 5 star rated resorts. A travel agent is a good place to start, they will go over all of the best ones.
  3. Hi. Just got back from the DR 3 weeks ago. Stayed at an RIU resort. It was alright, but if you go ask for an upper floor room (you get a better balcony and bigger room). I do not believe that any excursion is included in an all inclusive package. Be prepared to pay approximately $80 US for any excursion and you will get suckered into buying souvenirs that they say the money is going to the local children. The DR is a very poor country so be prepared to see a lot of poverty if you go off the resort. The food was good, especially if you like seafood and the service was excellent (most of the staff speak English). I liked the DR but am not rushing to go back. I would recommend the Mexican Rivieria to you before I would recommend the DR. Hope this was helpful. PS I went in February and it was really hot! My travel agent did not recommend going during the months of September - November due to the weather and not being able to predict it.
  4. Go to http://www.love.allabouthoneymoons.com they can plan any type of trip not just honeymoons and destination weddings. If you tell them what you like and your budget they will plan the perfect trip for you.Best of all if you use there service to book your trip there service is free b/c the fee is paid by the hotel or resort.
